“La Sicilia,” a Cultural Bridge
In his editorial, the publisher of La Sicilia examines the reasons and significance behind the newspaper’s return to distribution in Rome and Milan, twenty years after its last presence
Today, La Sicilia returns to newsstands in Rome and Milan after more than twenty years.
It is more than an expanded distribution plan: it is a bridge. A cultural and symbolic bridge linking our island to the rest of the country — the same conviction that drives the belief that truly connecting Sicily to the mainland, including through major infrastructure, means helping it grow, open up, and finally claim the space it deserves.
Ours is a land that deserves attention, respect and investment. It deserves to be heard not only when someone chooses to show its worst face, but above all when it reveals its courage, its talent and its hunger for the future.
I did not choose this path out of convenience, nor for profit. I am well aware of what it will cost me. But some decisions carry a value beyond any financial ledger: the decisions that make Sicilians feel stronger, more united, more proud of who we are.
And if this step can give Sicily the visibility it deserves, then every sacrifice will have been worthwhile.
To Sicilians in Sicily and across Italy: our history is shared, and our future is something we build together.
Wherever we are, we are Sicily.
